Vanessa Rousso Bags First Place At Event 9 Of Borgata Poker Open
Vanessa Rousso proves that she is a force to contend with as she wins Event 9 of the Borgata Poker Open. Rousso beat more than 300 entrants, taking home $285,450.
The biggest and best-known names in the professional poker circuit has arrived at the World Poker Tour at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City. The players are now in the middle of the action, battling it out for the million dollar first place prize, Rolex champion’’s watch and a $25,000 seat at the World Poker Tour championship.
Thursday, Sept. 14 saw Vanessa Rousso stealing the spotlight at the Borgata as she earned her place in poker history by winning Event 9, the $5,000 buy-in No Limit Event. Rousso beat over 300 of the best poker players around to win the biggest prize to date at the Borgata Poker Open at $285, 450.
Rousso’’s win marks one of the biggest cash prizes won by a female in poker. The win also makes her unquestionably one of the forces to be reckoned with in poker today.
“I can'’t believe I won this championship. I travel all over with the World Poker Tour and Borgata is my favorite place to play. It has some of the greatest poker action and the best restaurants of any casino in the country. I really liked SEABLUE and Specchio,” Rousso said.
Rousso dominated for the most part of the day, but had to face tough competition at the final table. She went up against top internet pro Cliff Josephy. Josephy ended up at third place taking home $86,500.
“This is the best tournament structure in the country with the best competition,” said Josephy.
Doran Malinasky meanwhile finished second taking home $151,375.
